The first Redditch Business Awards to celebrate exceptional achievements of local businesses attracted more 850 nominations across 9 categories and the 2 community awards. The judges met on Monday 12th September 2022 to deliberate and create a shortlist, which we are pleased to announce.
The shortlist reflects the best of Redditch, highlighting the top performers in the business community or individuals who went above and beyond.
This year’s judging panel included Ken Williams, General Manager of Kingfisher Shopping Centre; Cllr Ann Isherwood, Mayor of Redditch; and Amanda Watkin, General Secretary of Rotary International in Great Britain, and Ireland.
Ken Williams said:
“It was great to see a mix of familiar and unfamiliar nominees which provided a degree of challenge to the judging process in ensuring proper and fair consideration was applied.”
“I enjoyed learning about people and businesses that are striving to deliver exceptional products and services to communities and enhancing the reputation and experience of Redditch.”
“As we move into the further assessing the short-list candidates, we will be looking for evidence of those attributes set out in the award criteria.”
The shortlisted candidates will now be scrutinised to select the deserving winners from each category. Businesses will also be given the opportunity to provide evidence to support the consideration process and the judges will meet again towards the end of September to make their final decisions.
Another member of the judging panel, Cllr Ann Isherwood said: “I am so excited to be on the Judging panel of this year’s Redditch Business Awards’ organised by the Redditch BID.
“Working my way through the nominations with the other judges was a real eye opener to the number of wonderful businesses and talented people we have in Redditch. It was hard whittling to down the nominations to those that will be in the final selection, but it had to be done.
“I am hoping that we will have even more companies and individuals applying next year for this prestigious Award as there are many that should.”
Winners will be presented with their awards in a glamorous black-tie event at the Palace Theatre on Sunday 23rd October 2022. Tickets to the event is now on sale through the Palace Theatre box office and open to both businesses and the community.
Muj Rahman, Business Improvement District Manager for Redditch is thrilled to be organising the event, saying: “The excitement is building for the first Redditch Business Awards, and to receive over 850 nominations in our first year is a huge success. Redditch has a thriving business community, and it is vital that we showcase the best performers at every opportunity.”
He continued: “We want the Redditch business Awards to be an annual event, that will provide the platform for individuals and businesses to showcase innovation, talent and success achieved in the many categories.”
